Mike Pringle MSP has called a public meeting in the main church hall at Marchmont St Giles Church, Kilgraston Road on Tuesday the 9th of September at 7:30pm, all local residents are invited. The issue at hand is the future of Warrender Park Road Post Office which has been earmarked for closure by the Westminster Government as part of their rationalisation plans to close 2500 Post Offices across the UK.

Mike Pringle joined other MSPs at parliament today to wish Nelson Mandela a very happy birthday. Mr Mandela will celebrate his 90th birthday on the 19th of July.

Mike Pringle MSP has submitted a motion to the Scottish Parliament congratulating Linda McDonald from charity Malawi Underprivileged Mothers (MUMs) on being awarded the William Y Darling Edinburgh Citizen of the Year Award. The motion has attracted cross party support in praise of the Edinburgh midwife.

Mike Pringle MSP has lead calls of congratulations at the Scottish Parliament for the 44 pupils from 16 schools and five disciplines across Edinburgh who were part of this year's City of Edinburgh Schools Sports Academy.

Mike Pringle MSP attended the exciting climax to this seasons over-14s Bank of Scotland Midnight League at Tynecastle yesterday. A feast of football wowed an enthusiastic crowd as both semis and the final went down to the wire, Dunfermline's Woodmill Rovers eventually emerging victorious.

Mike Pringle MSP visited the Drum sheltered housing complex last week to join in the celebration of its 30th birthday. Mike met with local residents and helped longest serving tenant Elizabeth Denholm cut the cake on what proved to be a really enjoyable day.

A motion by Mike Pringle MSP expressing his abhorrence of the Chinese Government's recent suppression of democratic protests by the people of Tibet has attracted widespread cross party support from the Scottish Parliament.

Last week Mike Pringle MSP announced his intention to re-introduce his bill to the Scottish Parliament proposing a 10p levy on all plastic bags. The money raised from the levy is set to be reinvested in local environmental projects.

Mike Pringle MSP was today welcoming news that a working group has been set up by the City of Edinburgh Council to develop plans for a new multi-sport pavilion at Inch Park. Mike has been a long standing supporter of the plans and is running a petition to try and push them forward.

Mike Pringle was celebrating good news for students today as the Graduate Endowment (Abolition) Bill was passed by the Scottish Parliament. The abolition means that any student who graduated last year or is set to graduate in the future will no longer have to pay the £2289 fee.

Having welcomed the recent Government Neurology Report that recommends neurological services are retained at the Sick Kids Mike Pringle, MSP for Edinburgh South, has issued a warning to Edinburgh residents and the Government over Cancer care services, calling for confirmation that they will also be retained.

Mike Pringle MSP has given his support to the Tearfund campaign encouraging people to reduce their carbon footprint for Lent as an alternative to giving up chocolate or sweets. Part of the campaign includes encouraging shoppers to turn down plastic bags at supermarkets in favour of more environmentally friendly reusable alternatives.

Mike Pringle Joined members of Amnesty International and Jamie Hepburn MSP yesterday outside the United States consulate in Edinburgh in protest at the continued detention without trial of the prisoners held at the Guantanamo bay. Mike was amongst over 150 protesters, 130 of which wore orange boiler suits and assumed the now infamous submission posture in front of the consulate.
