Mike Celebrates Nelson Mandela's Birthday

Mike Pringle joined other MSPs at parliament today to wish Nelson Mandela a very happy birthday. Mr Mandela will celebrate his 90th birthday on the 19th of July.

The former South African president is widely considered a hero both in his homeland and internationally due to his achievement in leading the campaign to end the apartheid policy of racial segregation in South Africa and strong commitment to humanitarian work.

Mike Pringle said

"It is an honour to be here today to celebrate Nelson Mandela's achievements for his 90th birthday.

"His commitment both to multi racial democracy in South Africa and the wider human rights movement is nothing short of remarkable. He has certainly been a personal inspiration to me and I'm sure many other MSPs.

"Happy birthday Nelson, and many happy returns."
