Pringle Speaks Out Against Guantanamo Disgrace

12.00.00am UTC (GMT +0000) Mon 14th Jan 2008

Mike Pringle Joined members of Amnesty International and Jamie Hepburn MSP yesterday outside the United States consulate in Edinburgh in protest at the continued detention without trial of the prisoners held at the Guantanamo bay. Mike was amongst over 150 protesters, 130 of which wore orange boiler suits and assumed the now infamous submission posture in front of the consulate.

A letter was handed in to the US consulate general calling for the closure of the camp.

Mike Pringle said

"The fact that such a blatant breach of human rights can be perpetrated by a developed nation in this day and age is nothing short of a disgrace.

"I call on the US government to close Guantanamo bay, these prisoners are held without charge and deserve a fair trial; the current situation is simply unacceptable."
