SOUTH SUB UPDATE: Pringle Questions Minister over South Sub

5.10.00pm UTC (GMT +0000) Wed 5th Dec 2007

Speaking in the parliament debating chamber yesterday Mike Pringle questioned Minister for Transport, Infrastructure and Climate Change Stuart Stevenson on his plans for the Edinburgh South Suburban Railway line.

The minister's response was positive as he promised to consider any proposal brought forward by the City of Edinburgh Council.

Mike Pringle said

"The South Sub project represents a sustainable, green and cost effective part of the solution to Edinburgh's congestion problems.

"£8 million of the funding required has already been secured by E-rail so this project is on the move; I am pleased to have the Minister's backing in being willing to consider proposals to have the line re-opened."
