Mike Pringle MSP has lodged a motion in the Scottish Parliament supporting the 'Don't Give Fire a Home' campaign. Figures released today show that twenty people lost their lives in alcohol-related fires in Scotland last year.

Speaking from Parliament, Mr Pringle said:

"Alcohol-related illness often hits the headlines, but these figures demonstrate another tragic consequence of Scotland's booze culture.

"Any Executive strategy to tackle Scotland's well documented alcohol problem must take into account all of the adverse consequences of excess drinking, including alcohol-related fires.

"I have today lodged a motion urging MSPs to sign up to the 'Don't Give Fire a Home' campaign."
